Drawing the portrait through form, light and shadow

  • Fredericton, NB Canada (map)

Working from a reference photo, workshop participants will learn how to develop a three-dimensional rendering from a two-dimensional surface. Over the course of the day, we will learn the basic idealized proportions of the head and will develop an understanding of planes, plane changes, how light and shadow create form, as well as how soft and hard edges help define three dimensions and depth perception. Whether the pencil is your go to tool for artistic expression, every artist can benefit from an in-depth exploration of how light and shadow coexist to create dimensionality.
