Hard at work in the studio

COMING SOON!

ANOTHER two Day Portrait and Drawing workshop with Beaverbrook Gallery in Fredericton NB! June 10th and 11th.

This workshop focuses on drawing and painting the human head. Inspired by Beaverbrook’s Joseph Oppenheimer’s drawing and painting of Alice Bernheim, we will be working with our own photographic reference of a family member or friend and learn how to develop a three-dimensional rendering from a two-dimensional surface (your photograph). Over the course of 2 days, 6 hours per day, we will start with a drawing on day one and transfer that drawing to canvas on day two to create a painting. We will learn the basic idealized proportions of the head and will develop an understanding of planes, plane changes, how light and shadow create form, as well as, how soft and hard edges help define three dimensions and depth perception. Most importantly we will learn how to individualize the subject to best represent your loved one’s likeness.
